Sack catalogue description: A Providence masterpiece. Hepplewhite mahogany and cherry serpentine-front sideboard with recessed serpentine-shaped cupboard flanked by line-inlaid concave turrets, the center bowed drawer has a sliding shelf below and is flanked on each side by three drawers, the drawers and cupboard doors have dark and light fan-inlad quadrants, ivory escutcheons and crossbanded borders; the tapered legs have etched bellflower inlay and inlaid spade feet, the center legs canted, the stiles are inlaid with checkered diamonds connected by loop inlay; the top has an oval paterae with inlaid initials reading "TB 1803" and a diagonal checkered inlaid edge, the center cupboard doors have oval silver plaques engraved "JB April 20, 1803" and "TB April 20, 1803"; amber patina of depth and mellowness. Acquired by us from direct descendants of the Rhodes family. The "B" may stand for Bucklin; Elizabeth Bucklin married James Rhodes in 1848. This sideboard has been attributed to Joseph Rawson by family tradition.
