- Sack catalogue description: Classical mahogany lyre-back piano stool, the acanthus-carved lyre splat is surmounted by a crest panel with oak leaf carving, incurvate-shaped arms ending in scrolled terminals join the circular seat which rotates on a pedestal base with reeded urn; the legs are molded with spiral carved spines and terminate in carved paw feet. Probably the supreme example of the Phyfe school, made by Duncan Phyfe or a contemporary; exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
