Sack catalogue description: Hepplewhite mahogany tall clock, the hood is superbly inlaid with intertwining vines and grapes flanked by panels of five-petaled bellflowers, the graceful swan's-neck pediment is a beautiful fret design with an inlaid Oriole perched on a branch fronting the plinth. To our knowledge, the inlaid motif of a Baltimore Oriole is unique; the waist and base have oval and square panels of mahogany in curly satinwood borders. A related clock by Charles Tinges, Baltimore, is in the Maryland Historical Society; see The Magazine Antiques (May 1976): p. 981.
