- Sack catalogue description: Chippendale mahogany slant-front desk with ogee bracket feet, blocked interior with shell-carved center door and scooped-end pigeonhole drawers, the superbly figured crotch grain of the lid is enhanced by a golden brown patina; the thin poplar interior drawer linings and competent dovetails support a Townsend-Goddard attribution. This desk was the property of George Brown of Newport who moved to Providence, then to Attleboro, Massachusetts.
