Materials:: Mahogany; brass
Notes:: Sack catalogue description: Chippendale slant-top desk, San Domingan mahogany with plum pudding figure, ogee bracket feet; original bale brasses, the blockfront interior is indicative of the work of John Townsend or a related Townsend, the center door has a fully developed carved shell with fluted center; the end drawers have wavy shells with scribed borders, the scooped pigeonhole terminal drawers and the neat dovetails are identical to those on labeled Townsend interiors, old dark finish. Formerly in the Frederick Williamson family of Montclair, New Jersey; ex-collection Israel Sack, Inc., 1940; ex-collection Charles K. Davis.
