Sack catalogue description: Hepplewhite cherry tall clock, the case tastefully inlaid with fan quadrants in base and door with a repeat quadrant centering apron, fluted quarter columns flanking case and waist with satinwood stop reeds; the broken arch top has inlaid rosettes, flame finials with line inlay following the spiral, graceful apron and flaring French feet; beautiful amber patina, moon dial with sweep second hand. This clock descended in the family of Mary Sloan who married William Frick in Philadelphia in 1792; the superb set of four-chair-back Sheraton settee and chairs made for this couple is in the White House.
