- Abstract:
- The head and hair tend to be more and more confined. Often hip length, hair is braided and encased in filigree gold and jewels. Hair not confined in this way is twisted at the back of the head into a bun. The head is covered as much as possible. The barbette, a circular band, is often fitted under the chin. The pillbox is on top of the barbette. It sits straight and partially covers the forehead. Crowns fit around the outside of the pillbox. For unmarried girls hair is still long and loose.
