Abstract:
Textile factories flourish in Milan, Venice, Florence and, most particularly, Lucca. Garments for women and men are made of heavy rich silks, satins, taffetas, velvets, brocades, and cloths of gold and silver. Fabrics with large-scale patterns are common. Designs are abstract or made of stylized motifs, such as the rose, pomegranate, leaf, and feather. Interlaced strap-work in allover patterns is combined with motifs or used separately.
