Toward mid-century narrow pleated aprons appear in the dress of the rich bourgeoisie. The bodice is short waisted. A full skirt is banded horizontally. Sometimes when the skirt is finely pleated the apron is banded too. Eventually the apron is incorporated into "regional" dress. Notice the gloves, now an essential part of fashionable dress, and the flea fur attached to the waist.
Abstract:
Compared to the stiff English dress and the harsh and heavily decorated German dress, Italian dress is soft and sensual.
