- A semicircular mantle with fabric closure. Underneath is a kirtle over a white garment.
- Abstract:
- The oblong or semicircular mantle is the most common overgarment. New in appearance, it is now attached by a cord running across the chest. In a gesture typical of the period, the cord is held away from the neck with two fingers. Some of the old-style capes remain.
