- The tunic develops a fuller skirt. Decorative bands settle at the wrist, upper arm, and neckline. A center-front band joins the hem border to the neckline trim. Braccae are tucked into soft boots.
- Abstract:
- Essentially Roman is form, Byzantine dress looks totally new. Garments include the kneelength tunica tolaris, the pallium, and the paludamentum, which is now decorated with the tablion. Gradually, through the seventh century, the toga becomes very narrow.
