Notes:
A classic hairdo of the High Italian Renaissance. False hair fills out the line of the natural hair in back.
Abstract:
Toward the end of the century, as the silhouette narrows, hair is styled more naturally. Usually it is center parted with soft curls hanging on the side of the face. Back hair is twisted into a bun off the neck. Frequently false hair is added in ways that appear to be arbitrary. The most fashionable hair is blond. Ribbons still are wrapped around or interwoven with the hair. Ribbon rosettes cover the ears. Now the turban-shape hats are draped softly.
