Notes:

French princes with the clubbed hairstyle of ancient times. Earrings are usually in one ear. The flowers are probably added for a special occasion. Notice how the standing collar is carefully shaped.

Abstract:

Normally hair is short. It is brushed straight back without a part and trained to form a roll. As with women, a widow's peak is a mark of good looks. Almost everyone is in a mustache and beard. Usually the beard is small and trimmed to a point. A less fashionable large beard is pointed or square. The flat beret, either knitted or made of felt, is stylish until 1565. It is replaced by a Reformation hat which is narrow, stiff-brimmed and has a gathered crown. Most often made of black beaver, velvet, or felt, it sits at a jaunty angle and is trimmed with a jeweled band, sometimes feathers. Neck ruffs are the same for men as women.
