A classic Renaissance profile. A short, transparent veil is draped over the hair. A crown is over the veil. Tendrils of hair fall on the face.
Abstract:
During the Early Renaissance in Italy the silhouette develops into the shape of a cone. The head is the focus of attention. Faces are made to appear large and features small by raising the hairline and plucking the eyebrows. The remaining hair is teased and arranged to frame the face. For the first time in centuries false hair is added. It is twisted, braided, intertwined with ribbons, and adorned with pearls. Large hats are shaped like a bubble or turban which frames the face. Sometimes short veils are draped over the hair.
