The 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake ruptured a 25 mile long segment of the San Andreas Fault in the Santa Cruz Mountains without surface rupture. Damage, including liquefaction (circles with "L"), extended as far as Oakland, 70 miles way. (California OES). Digitized from a set of 35 mm slides from AIA/ACSA Council on Architectural Research; showing details effect of earthquake on building structures.
