- Taehangari is the covered jar in which a royal placenta was placed and then buried, usually inside a second larger jar (From Whitfield, ed.
, 274).Offices involved with the royal births and related ceremonies were the Sansilch’ong (Office of Royal Delivery, 産室廳) and the Ant’aesa (Officer of Safe Deliver, 安胎使). Following delivery, the Ceremony of Cleaning the Placenta (set’ae, 洗胎) was completed, and the placenta (t'ae, 胎) was placed inside the t'aehangari (胎缸), accompanying steles and decorative epitaphs were prepared, and the placenta was moved to a Votive Hall (Wondang, 願堂), whose site had been carefully selected through geomancy (p'ungsu chirihak, 風水地理學) (YS Pak, , Fall 2007, Yale University, pl. 18-30). - Variant Titles:
