Pan Yuliang entered the Shanghai Art Institute in 1918 and in 1921 went to Paris and then Rome to continue her studies. She returned to China in 1928 and taught at art schools in Shanghai and at the Art Department of the Central University in Nanjing. Pan Yuliang left China for France in 1937. She lived in Paris until her death in 1977.
