Hospital Number 15,877.
John Harvey, Private, Co. F, 29th Mass. Vols., aged 19, was admitted to Harewood U.S.A. Gen'l Hospital, June 21st, 1864, suffering from gun shot wound of left forearm, the ball entering at upper third and passing upwards, grooving the head of humerus and fracturing left cavicle. Wounded, June 17th, 1864, at the battle of Petersburgh, Va. Resection of head of humerus, and of about three inches of left clavicle which was fractured, denuded and protruding. The ball was extracted from under fractured cavicle on the 28th of June. Operation performed by Surg. R. B. Bontecou, U.S. Vols., July 17th, 1864. The condition of parts at time of operation was tolerably good, but patient was weak from excessive suppuration. The wound had healed and patient was doing well when discharged from the hospital, Feb. 18th, 1865.
