Robert A. Butcher, Private, Co. H, 82nd Pa. Vols, was admitted to Harewood U.S. Gen'l Hospital, April 16th, 1865, having two sabre cuts across the top of the head, received near South-side Railroad, Va., April 10th, 1865. The anterior wound was near, and in line with the coronal suture. The posterior one, about one inch and a half from the first and parallel with it. The bone was not denuded. The wounds healed rapidly. May 29th, the patient, for the first time complained of severe headache, and intolerance of light, and the anterior wound soon after re-opened discharging unhealthy pus. The head-ache gradually subsided, the wound again healed, and he was discharged nearly well, June 9th, 1865.
