Abstract:
Marriage contract, manuscript, black ink on paper, dated the 29th of Kislev 5594 at Vidin (1833). There are two columns of text. On the right side is the marriage agreement (kidushin) and on the left side are the terms of betrothal (erusin), both signed by the same witnesses. In the left side there is additional text at the bottom, most likely enumerating the dowry. The text is written in Sephardic script. The top of the ketubah is in the shape of a scalloped triangle. Above the text are two fish, and in the center is a six pointed star, which contain allusions to Jacobs blessing of Joseph in Genesis 48. In the center of the star, the names of the groom and bride are mentioned as Yitshak and Simhah. On either side of the star are blessings for the bride and groom.
