Notated in black ink on p. [2] of a bifolium of tall, self-ruled laid 18-staff paper. Comprises only 18 measures. The vocal line is present, but the words are missing. Signed and inscribed at the bottom of the page: "A mes bons Amis / P. Vidal et Passerieu / leur vieil ami / Ach de Bussy."
On p. [1] in Debussy's hand: "Madrid / paroles / Musset / musique / de Bussy." At the top of p. [1] unidentified sketches, in pencil, notated in pencil on a system of two staves. Dated, in an unidentified hand, 1880; dated 1879 by Grove (with the title "Madrid, princesse des Espagnes").
