Notes:: “Nhuận Chính Trung Hiếu Tiết Nghĩa Nhị Độ Mai” or “Nhị Độ Mai Diễn Ca” is one of three translation versions of three different translators that translates from Hán to Nôm a Chinese novel named “Nhị Độ Mai” or “Trung hiếu tiết nghĩa nhị độ mai”. It is a story of the Mai and Trần families who go through an arduous journey in order to fight for justice. Like any old-style story, readers of Nhị Độ Mai find the good characters being trapped, defamed, and badly treated by powerful villains, however, at the end, they are compensated and the wicked characters have to pay for their wickedness. “You reap what you sow” is the main philosophy of Nhị Độ Mai. It reflects the current political situation at that time when the Emperor was manipulated by selfish, arrogant high-ranking officials, who wrongly judged and punished those who were honest, brave, and devoted their lives to the country. Nhị Độ Mai also expresses the desire of people at that time who wanted to have a just society where good people should be rewarded and bad people should be punished. Beside “Nhuận Chính Trung Hiếu Tiết Nghĩa Nhị Độ Mai” or “Nhị Độ Mai Diễn Ca”, there are two other translation versions. One is “ Nhị Độ Mai Tinh Tuyển” and the other is Nhị Độ Mai Truyện (another name is Cải dịch Nhị độ mai truyện, author is Đặng Xuân Bảng (1828-1910)).
“Nhuận Chính Trung Hiếu Tiết Nghĩa Nhị Độ Mai” hay còn được gọi là “ Nhị Độ Mai diễn ca” là một trong 3 tác phẩm được 3 dịch giả dịch từ chữ Hán sang chữ Nôm cuốn tiểu thuyết Trung Quốc có tên "Nhị Độ Mai" hoặc "Trung Hiếu Tiết Nghĩa Nhị Độ Mai". Đó là câu chuyện về gia đình họ Mai và họ Trần, những người đã trải qua một cuộc hành trình gian nan để đấu tranh cho công lý. Giống như nhiều câu chuyện cổ xưa, Nhị Độ Mai phản ánh cuộc giằng co giữa cái thiện với cái ác, lúc đầu những người tốt bị vu oan, giá họa, bị phỉ báng và đối xử tàn tệ bởi kẻ xấu, tuy nhiên cuối cùng, họ được giải oan, được hưởng hạnh phúc trong khi những kẻ gian ác phải đền tội. Qui luật nhân quả “gieo hạt gì, gặt quả đấy" là triết lý chính của Nhị Độ Mai. Nó phản ánh tình hình chính trị đương thời khi vua chúa chỉ biết nghe những lời nỉ non của bọn nịnh thần nham hiểm mà đánh giá sai và kết tội những người trung thực, dũng cảm, thực lòng muốn cống hiến công sức cho đất nước nhân dân. Nhị Độ Mai cũng thể hiện mong muốn của người dân muốn có một xã hội công bằng, người tốt được khen thưởng còn kẻ xấu thì bị trừng phạt. Bên cạnh "Nhuận Chính Trung Hiếu Tiết Nghĩa Nhị Độ Mai" hay “ Nhị Độ Mai Diễn Ca” còn có 2 tác phẩm khác. Một là cuốn Nhị Độ Mai Tinh Tuyển ( không rõ tác giả) và cuốn Nhị Độ Mai Truyện (tên khác Cải dịch Nhị độ mai truyện) do Đặng Xuân Bảng (1828-1910) viết.
