Sack catalogue description: Early kas or cupboard with important original painted decoration of pendant fruit, supported by angels, birds and flowers in blue group, brown, orange and white in gray background; the primary wood is hard yellow pine. This kas was found in Saugerties, New York, near Kingston, New York; it was on loan to the Van Cortlandt Manor for many years by Mr. and Mrs. Mitchel Taradash. This is one of a group of cupboards with similar decoration, one the property of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (possibly object 23.171 or 09.175).
