Sack catalogue description: Chippendale walnut mirror with scrolled crest and base, carved and gilded shell silhouetted in crest, fine mellow brown patina; bears the original label of Stephen Whiting, probably imported by Stephen Whiting from London ca. 1745–1758. Several advertisements of Stephen Whiting appear in Boston newspapers from 1748 to the time he went bankrupt in 1758.
