- Sack catalogue description: Hepplewhite mahogany D-shaped card table, the frame veneered with divided panels of curly satinwood in crossbanded and inlaid borders, the tapered legs and plinths with similar panels ending in spade feet; the folding leaf is a restoration, made by and bearing the original label of John Seymour and Son, Cabinetmakers, Creek Street, Boston. This is the fourth labeled John Seymour piece to be discovered; the others are: 1) tambour desk, Winterthur, illustrated in Stoneman, John and Thomas Seymour, p. 54; 2) tambour desk, George A. Cluett collection, illustrated in Stoneman, John and Thomas Seymour, p. 50; and 3) inlaid card table, private collection, illustrated in American Antiques from Israel Sack Collection, vol. 5, p. 1272, pl. P4225. All four labels are identical.
