Sack catalogue description: Sheraton mahogany pianoforte, the case fashioned of superbly figured mottled mahogany with rosewood crossbanding, the keyboard with brass plaque inscribed "Made by A. Babcock for G. D. Mackay, Boston"; under the keyboard are three drawers, the center drawer concave fitted with finely chased fire gilded brasses, the frieze above with fine gilded chased brass borders; the tapered reeded legs have chased fire gilded brass capitals, the foot pedals are supported by tapered reeded columns, the original instrumentation is intact. A 1902 photograph of the pianoforte in the family homestead accompanies the piece.
