Notes:: Sack catalogue description: Chippendale San Domingan mahogany sideboard table with Marlborough feet, original pierced corner brackets of strapwork design, two drawers; overhanging top with retaining molding, fine mellow brown patina. Displaying Townsend-Goddard craftsmanship, the form to our knowledge is unique and represents a rare occurrence of the Marlborough leg school in Newport. Descent is as follows: 1) James Birckhead married Eliza Hunter, granddaughter of Dr. William Hunter; 2) Dr. William Birckhead married Sarah King, daughter of David King; 3) Dr. David King, first President of the Newport Historical Society; 4) Descended through the family to Mrs. Cabot Coville.
